It saddens me to announce that Beyonce will NOT be heading to New Zealand for her ultra spectacular I Am....TOUR!!

According to published reports her tour isn't doing as expected because of the recession and all, which i totally agree with, so she's ditch'd the ditchable New Zealand!

I'll keep you posted if NZ tour dates have re-sched but by the looks of thing now Queen B will not making her way to New Zealand!

These days it about the way you look and the rep you got before the talent and passion. Word around the street is the SPC SENIOR DANCE will be changed to a later date.

Why the sudden change you ask?According to my sources, scheduling between the 7th form/schooling activities had a lot to do with the soon 'to be'

date change.

For those who have been left out of the loop, the dance is supposed to be on May 7 which is the second week back of the first term but that week is also the Senior Class O.E trip and the annual inter-college O'Shea Shield and the week after is the Tuesday is the 7th form Geography trip too which will require a whole of preparation. So will the date change or stay the same?

National Dance Comp '09: Guest blogger- Luvia93

To all dancers who went to the 2009 NZ Hip Hop Dance Nationals
=Luvia93 Sends us this:

On the 9th of April 09 over seventy hip hop dance crews headed up to Manukau, Auckland to compete in the NZ National Hip Hop Champs to qualify for The World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas July 09. The competition was split into three grades, junior (12&under), varsity (13-18) and adult (18+). Thursday was the heats and NZ'S greatest hip hop talent was showcased with the top 6 in juniors and adults and the top 8 in varsity heading onto fridays finals.

The finals were AMAZING, and all of the crews stepped up there game although some technical problems occurred. ReQuest (all-girl) dance crew's sound turned off in the middle of their dance! With a second try, these inspiring girls, fully talented went on to place 2ND in NZ for varsity and qualify for LAS VEGAS WORLDS. 2.0 (all-boys) crew won the Varsity section and Fearless went from 6th in heats to grab the bronze and also qualify.

TMC Dance Crew

The varsity section definitely proved the hardest with 17 crews whilst adults had only 6 crews. TMC took out the adult section, with Sweet&Sour 2ND and Welly's own Legacy coming in at third place.

Personally, my favourite crews were ReQuest (Auckland), who showed NZ that girls can definitely dance as well as boys, their unique style was mean and I really look up to them. Also, EXPLICIT was another of my favorite crews from down here in welly. These boys are like my/our (EMERGE) brother crew and (i thought) deserved a placing. They've only been together a few months and placed 4TH in heats - definitely up there with the top Auckland crews. LEGACY, (shot BEN UILI) are famous in Wellington if not NZ for their dancing. I loved their routine and my opinion was that they should've placed higher.

The whole experience was truly incredible and NZ is up there as one of the World's best countries at Hip Hop Dance. The dance and the standards of NZ dance has increased rapidly and has inspired me to pursue my passion in dance further, and more.
HUGGGEEE props to all the qualifying crews and to all of NZ'S competing dance crews. AMAZING talent and awesome spirit.
